The award-winning Dacha Luxury Accommodation overlooks Lake Wanaka and maximises the areas stunning scenery. Clever design and an array of leading edge materials realised this projects key objective:

"it’s all about the view.”
Successful projects are often the result of good team work and The Dacha is no exception. Project Details

The spacious verandah floats without posts that would obstruct scenery. The verandah proportions were carefully designed using computer modelling to analyse the shading effects in rooms at different times of the year. Shade and sunlight time lapse simulation movies were provided to the client so that they could approve the amount of light and sun planned for each room.

The goal was to allow views of the lake from every room, not only directly but through corners and adjoining rooms to capture more of the panorama. Lots of glass, cantilevers, and large spans were included. Corner windows are cleverly positioned and glimpses of the lake can even be seen from the slotted windows at the entrance porch under the two car drive through a porte cochere.

The Dacha achieved its objective with an architectural style that included precise attention to detail and thoughtful choice of materials.
